Impact and Education
The Great Southern Reef project aims to build a stronger identity, public engagement scientific awareness and community ownership towards the biodiversity, indigenous significance and threats of Australia’s temperate reef ecosystems.
Over the next 18 months we will release a series of fifteen short episodes focusing on key regions, habitats, species and stories.
Using technology to bring science and local ecosystems to life in the classroom, we are producing a unit of work to help Australian high school students about local biodiversity, ecosystem changes and threats to the Great Southern Reef.
Materials will be targeted at year 8 and 9 school students in line with the Australian National Curriculum and National Geographic Standards.
